چکیده

This paper presents a model-based algorithm for estimating motion from monocular image sequences. We first present a new two-view motion algorithm and then extend it to multiple views. The two-view algorithm requires generally 6 pairs of point correspondences to give unique solution of the motion parameters. However, when the uredpoints lie on a Maybank Quadric, the algorithm requires 7 pairs of point correspondences to give double solutions. Object-centered motion representations and a motion model of constant acceleration are used to estimate motion parameters from long image sequences. The algorithm guarantees globally optimal solution. Since the algorithm does not involve structure parameters, it contains the least number of unknowns and is hence more efficient and robust than the existing ones. Experimental results with real image data are presented. The same method can be applied to solve for motions described by second or higher orders of polynomials.

ESTIMATING THE STRONG-MOTION OF THE DECEMBER 26, 2003 BAM (IRAN), EARTHQUAKE USING STOCHASTIC TECHNIQUES

Abstract : The main objective of this study is estimating the strong motion for the Bam region using the stochastically based seismological models. The two widely used synthetic techniques namely point-source and finite-fault were utilized incorporating the source-path and site parameters into simple function. The decay factor kappa was estimated based on the data obtained from recorded stron...

Recursive estimation of time-varying motion and structure parameters

We present a computational framework for recovering both 1 st-order motion parameters (observer direction of translation and observer rotation), 2 nd-order motion parameters (observer rotational acceleration) and relative depth maps from time-varying optical ow. We recover translation speed and acceleration in units which are scaled relative to the distance to the object. Our assumption is that...

A robust multiscale B-spline function decomposition for estimating motion transparency

Motion transparency phenomena in image sequences are frequent, but classical methods of motion estimation are unable to deal with them. This paper describes a method for estimating optical flow by a generalization of the brightness constancy assumption to additive transparencies. The brightness constancy assumption is obtained by setting constant velocity fields during three images of a sequenc...

Multiple Constraints to Compute Optical Flow - Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, IEEE Transactions on

constraints in the computational schema. In the first step, it is shown that differential constraints correspond to an implicit feature tracking. Therefore, the lbest results (either in terms of measurement accuracy, and speed in the computation) are obtained by selecting and applying the constraints which are best "tuned" to the particular image feature under consideration. Considering also mu...
